Prince William Follows Up Message Saying He’s ‘Gutted’ with a Much More Positive Tone

While Prince William has many interests, one of his biggest loves is sports, which we've seen from his visits to various sporting events and his well wishes to UK teams on his social media accounts.

Recently, the Duke of Cambridge shared a rare message to his Twitter account, where he expressed his sadness at the absence of Lions player Alun-Wyn Jones. The royal said, “Gutted for @AlunWynJones that he won’t be able to captain the Lions due to an injury. Wishing him a speedy recovery and best of luck to the rest of the Lions team as they set off for South Africa. We are all behind you! W.”

The personal message from the duke (as indicated by the "W" at the end of the message) was in response to the Welsh rugby player dislocating his shoulder and being replaced as captain by Conor Murray.

But while Prince William's original message was a little more downtrodden, he followed up that tweet with another personal note that's got a more positive tone.

In his latest message, the duke wrote: “Wishing the @Lionsofficial team all the best ahead of the opening Test in Cape Town! It’s brilliant to see @AlunWynJones back fit and healthy, ready to lead the team. W.”

The rugby player's return was announced in a statement from coach Warren Gatland, who said, “We are delighted to welcome Alun Wyn back. It'll come as no surprise to anyone who knows Alun Wyn that since injuring his shoulder against Japan, he's done everything he can to get himself back. It's remarkable really when you consider it's just 18 days since he left us in Edinburgh.”

Prince William was obviously just as delighted to see the player's return. And now that the Olympics are underway, we'll be expecting many more tweets from the sports fanatic.
