The Trailer for the Final Season of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ Is Here—and It’s Dramatic

We never thought we would see the day, but Orange Is the New Black is officially coming to an end, and Netflix just released the trailer for the final season

It seems like it was just yesterday (OK, it was actually 2013) when the hit show debuted as one of the streaming platform’s very first original series and now the leading ladies of Litchfield Penitentiary are ready for one last go-round on July 26, when the show returns.

The trailer picks up after last year’s explosive season, when the show moved to a maximum security prison after a riot involving many of the main characters. We also were introduced to newcomers Carol (Henny Russell) and Barbara (Mackenzie Phillips), drug runner Daddy (Vicci Martinez) and Carol's highest ranking soldier, Badison (Amanda Fuller). And of course, it's officially time for Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) release.

In the clip we see Piper struggling to adjust to her new life outside. “I recently got out of federal prison and I’m trying to get back on my feet,” Piper says in a voiceover. “Now this is my life.”

“Taystee’s friendship with Cindy still hangs in the balance as her life sentence looms,” the season’s official synopsis reads. “Gloria and her kitchen staff are confronted by the harsh realities of Polycon’s newest profit stream, while others chase drugs or dreams and grapple with the reality of their place in this world.”

While there are some lighter moments throughout, it looks like this one is going to be tear-jerker for sure.

You can catch the final season of OITNB on Netflix July 26.
