Miley Cyrus Is Channelling Joe Exotic By Keeping Her Mullet Alive While Social Distancing

Miley Cyrus’s mullet isn’t going anywhere soon.

The 27-year-old “Don’t Call Me Angel” singer has been rocking a shaggy blonde mullet (yes, seriously) since late last year after her mom, Trish, gave her an accidentally uneven trim ahead of her birthday. Cyrus sought the help of celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger, who turned the faux pas into a very Blondie-esque layered shag that looked a whole lot better.

But now that Cyrus and the rest of the country are practicing social distancing, she decided to take the trimming shears into her own hands. So, how’d it go? Let’s just say that mullet is going to be around for a while longer.

During the latest episode of her Instagram series, Bright Minded: Live with Miley Cyrus, she explained to hairstylist Justin Anderson and Very Cavallari star Kristin Cavallari via video how she attempted to cut her own bangs. (Please don’t try this at home.)

She told Anderson that she asked a friend to drop some thinning shears in her mailbox so she could handle her mullet maintenance on her own. This was definitely mistake number one. She combed her hair forward from the back and trimmed some inches off her bangs (aka not the right way to go about it at all).

And even though it didn’t quite turn out how she hoped, Cyrus was able to find the bright side of her little mistake. She told the duo, “Lucky for me, I’m not going to be seeing anyone.”

Somewhere, Joe Exotic is applauding your valiant effort, Miley.
