Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Team Up with Two Major Charities to Help Haiti and Afghanistan

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are putting their money where their mouth is. Just one week after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a statement about the current crisis in Afghanistan and Haiti, the couple has partnered with humanitarian organizations to offer their help.

Per Harper’s Bazaar, the duo has teamed up with two charities—Women for Afghan Women (WAW) and World Central Kitchen—who have publicly thanked the duke and duchess for their support.

“We are immensely grateful for the generosity of the Archewell Foundation in support of our efforts to evacuate/relocate thousands of Afghan women, children, families, including our staff,” WAW, the largest women's organization in Afghanistan, wrote on social media. According to the charity’s website, WAW is using its resources to help evacuate women and children from Afghanistan.

The couple has also joined forces with one of Markle’s favorite charities, World Central Kitchen. The global organization provides meals to countries recovering from natural disasters, including those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti.

“With support from around the world & our partners The Duke and Duchess of Sussex & Archewell Foundation joining the relief effort, WCK is now delivering thousands of hot, nutritious meals daily to hospitals & shelters caring for Haitians impacted by the earthquake,” the charity wrote on Twitter.

As we mentioned above, the news comes shortly after the ex-royals released a candid statement addressing the current state of the world. Shared on their Archewell Foundation website, the letter revealed that they’re both “speechless” and “heartbroken.”

Part of the note read, “The world is exceptionally fragile right now. As we all feel the many layers of pain due to the situation in Afghanistan, we are left speechless. As we all watch the growing humanitarian disaster in Haiti, and the threat of it worsening after last weekend’s earthquake, we are left heartbroken. And as we all witness the continuing global health crisis, exacerbated by new variants and constant misinformation, we are left scared. When any person or community suffers, a piece of each of us does so with them, whether we realize it or not. And though we are not meant to live in a state of suffering, we, as a people, are being conditioned to accept it.”

Keep up the great work, you two.
