‘Harry Potter’ Star Matthew Lewis Freaked When He Lost His Wallet, but Not Because of the Money

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis is saying “Accio, wallet,” but not for the reason you might think.

The 29-year-old former Harry Potter wizard, who played the affable herbology-loving Neville Longbottom, explained via Twitter earlier this week that his wallet had been stolen in East London. And while money’s great and everything, there was only one thing Lewis desperately wanted back out of it.

It wasn’t his Social Security card or even his AmEx. All Lewis really needed was a note his wife of nearly a year, blogger Angela Jones, had written him.

He tweeted, “Yo, if you stole my wallet in East London yesterday or even if you just found it: it’s yours, keep it, have the money, the cards, the lot. But the note from my wife engraved on a piece of metal, if you can post that to the address on the driving [sic] licence I’d call it evens. Please?”

As it turned out, we weren’t the only ones who found his plea to be pretty darn cute. The message garnered so much attention that his wallet, meaningful engraved note and all, was returned today.

Lewis expressed his amazement and gratitude on Twitter and thanked fans for their help.

He wrote, “Wow. You guys are dope. Really humbled by this response. That got more pick up than any of my Brexit material. And guess what I have? My wallet! I did not expect that to happen. I owe you all a debt of gratitude and can’t thank you all enough. You’re amazing. This is a good day.”

Finding your wallet, getting back a precious memento from your wife and avoiding the marital doghouse? We’d call that a win, Neville Matthew.
