We know him for donning a massive Valyrian steel sword and heavy black cape, but Kit Harington’s Jon Snow has been sporting something else under all that masculine garb: high heels.
The Game of Thrones actor revealed in an interview with Esquire that, among some other issues while filming the final season (uh, him almost losing a testicle), he had to sport high heels. Why? Well, at 5’8” Harington is one of the shorter members of the cast, so it’s easier to make him taller than to make someone like Sophie Turner, 5’9”, shorter.
To make things even more challenging, Harington’s costume weighted a ton: “[It] weighed 33 pounds and you’d carry all of that on your shoulders all day,” he said in the interview. “So, 33 pounds for 10 hours. And then you’ve got the sword, and that weighs two kilograms, which is another X number of pounds.” Sounds like a serious workout.
“Plus, I was in f–king high heels because I’m short and they need me to look taller than other people, so I’m carrying 50 pounds in high heels,” the 32-year-old actor continued.
