Kensington Palace’s Cheeky New Prince Louis Post Will Make All Parents Say ‘Same’

Kate Middleton and Prince William are celebrating Prince Louis’s birthday in the best way—with a cheeky Instagram post.

The youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge officially turns two years old today. Ahead of the big day, the royal family shared never-before-seen photos of Louis on social media. The birthday portraits were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge and feature the young royal completing a rainbow art project.

However, we woke up this morning to a bonus post that featured one of yesterday’s pics along with a brand-new photo—a sweet shot of the young prince with rainbow paint all over his hands and face. And instead of the usual professional caption, the royal family went for a more comical option, writing “Instagram vs reality.” So. Relatable.

For any parent who has ever tried to take photos of a two-year-old, you know how difficult it can be. Of course, the caption also included a less cheeky portion as well, reading, “Thank you for all your lovely messages on Prince Louis’ second birthday! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share new photographs of Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess this April.”

And did we mention the photos actually hold a special meaning? Rainbows hold a lot of significance right now in the U.K. and around the world, symbolizing hope during the current coronavirus pandemic.

Happy birthday, Prince Louis. Thank you for making our Thursday a little bit sweeter.
