Kate Middleton, 41, is *officially* the Princess of Wales, but she's looking like the Queen Bee based on this new photo that was posted to the Instagram account she shares with Prince William, 40, in honor of World Bee Day.

In the snap, we see Princess Catherine all suited up in a beekeeper outfit, holding a tray of bees (and not looking the least bit scared of getting stung). The caption read: “We are buzzing about #WorldBeeDay. Bees are a vital part of our ecosystem and today is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping people and the planet healthy.”

One royal follower commented, “There isn't a thing she can't do.” Another wrote, “Absolutely brilliant!! The Princess of Wales is full of surprises!”

This brand-new pic was snapped by royal family photographer Matt Porteous, who has done a number of notable projects for the Wales family. In 2022, he documented their tour of the Caribbean and took the photo that would be used for their Christmas card. Earlier this month, he snapped behind-the-scenes pics of the family during King Charles's coronation weekend.

With this latest photo, Porteous shared it to his own account as well, and wrote, “Let's appreciate these vital pollinators. Bees ensure the growth of our food crops, but they face challenges. Plant bee-friendly flowers, avoid pesticides, support local beekeepers, and spread awareness. Together, let's protect bees and safeguard our planet's biodiversity.”

Beekeeping is big for the British royals. In the past, we've learned that there is an island of bees in the Buckingham Palace gardens that produce over 200 jars of honey for the estate each year (wow).

Meanwhile, in 2020, Princess Catherine's younger brother, James, shared his own passion for beekeeping. In an article for The Daily Mail, the Middleton sibling said, “While I’ve been intrigued by the natural world for as long as I can remember, I’d always harboured a longing to keep bees, but it wasn’t until I turned 24 in 2011 that the wish became reality. Then, my family—mum, dad and my sisters Catherine and Pippa—clubbed together to buy what, for me, was the most fantastic birthday gift imaginable. A delivery van arrived with a large buzzing box with the cautionary label: ‘Live Bees’. Inside was the nucleus—the start—of my colony: 1,000 Buckfast bees.”

Seems beekeeping runs in the family!
