Move over, Ty Pennington. It looks like HGTV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has found its new host. Drumroll please…it's Jesse Tyler Ferguson!

Yup, the 43-year-old actor, best known for his role as Mitchell Pritchett in the hit sitcom Modern Familywill lead the reboot of the popular home-improvement series

“Jesse’s participation as host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is one of the ways that HGTV will put its own creative lens on the series,” Jane Latman, president of HGTV said in a statement. “We’ll make some variations to creative aspects of the show, but it will always deliver the great storytelling that made it one of the most iconic and successful properties in television. Jesse’s a funny guy, with a warm, caring nature who will help us find the humor and joy in every situation, so that will make this a unique viewing experience for everyone.”

Although Ferguson may not have the same home experience as original host Pennington (a carpenter and home-improvement expert), he definitely has the personality and passion for the show.

“I was so inspired by the original series and now I can’t wait to help families as the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” said Ferguson.

For those unfamiliar with the original, each episode follows a family who gives back to the community despite their own financial troubles. The family is then sent on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation while the Extreme Makeover team renovates (or rebuilds) their home. They return for the big reveal one week later.

The revival, which is set to include ten episodes, will air sometime in 2020. And although that sounds like forever from now, don’t worry. HGTV announced that they’re going to air 100 existing episodes of the original show (which ran from 2003 to 2012) prior to the premiere. Phew.
