Wait, Jennifer Lawrence Is Coming to Netflix with a New Movie?

Jennifer Lawrence is getting super spacey for her next role.

The 29-year-old Oscar winner is officially set to star in an upcoming Netflix comedy called Don’t Look Up from acclaimed writer/director Adam McKay (The Big Short, Vice) that’s all about the end of the world.

According to Variety, Lawrence plays one of two low-level astronomers tasked with embarking on an expansive media tour to casually inform the world that a quickly-approaching asteroid is going to—you guessed it—destroy the planet and kill everyone on it. What a delightful job.

McKay expressed his excitement about making the project with the Red Sparrow star, saying, “I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite talent.’ And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.” 17th century? OK, interesting, Adam.

You know what else is exciting about Don’t Look Up? We don’t have to wait very long to Netflix Jennifer Lawrence and chill. Apparently, the flick will start filming this April (McKay will also produce alongside Kevin Messick), and will be ready to hit the streaming platform later this year. That’s a pretty quick turnaround.

We never thought we’d see the day when four-time Oscar nominee J-Law graced Netflix with her presence, but streaming is where it’s at.
