ABC Announces the Return of ‘Press Your Luck’ & ‘Card Sharks’

ABC wants you to win big, like, Card Sharks and Press Your Luck–big.

The broadcasting company just announced plans to bring back both classic game shows.  Hosts and premiere dates have yet to be revealed, but since production begins this spring (ie: way soon) it won’t be long until more details arise.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the premise of either show, allow us to refresh your memory.

Press Your Luck, which first ran from 1983 to 1986 on CBS, pits three contestants against each other in a competition to answer questions to earn spins on the Big Board. Spins on the Big Board can bring cash and prizes galore, or it can nab them with the Whammy, which snags their winnings and leaves them with nothing. The winner graduates to an all-new bonus round and faces the Whammy in one last battle.

Card Sharks originally ran on NBC from 1978 to 1981 and then moved to CBS for a revival from 1986 to 1989. Like Press Your Luck it’s also a game of chance, but it only features two players who go têtê à têtê to make it to the grand prize-winning deck. As the game progresses, each player must weigh their odds and decide if they want to keep playing or walk away with the money they’ve already won.

The news comes as a little surprising, as ABC is already stacked in terms of game shows. It currently has Match Game, $100,000 Pyramid, Chrissy Teigen’s foe Celebrity Family Feud and To Tell the Truth.

But, hey, there’s always more room for fun and games.
