Gabrielle Union Walks Us Through How to Look Fabulous This Fall with Her Clothing Collection

We've seen Gabrielle Union steal the show in dazzling ensembles like patterned blazers, fitted gowns and faux-leather turtlenecks, so obviously, we were dying to know how to channel some of her sartorial knowledge.

PureWow caught up with the actress to discuss her new partnership with Ford, her upcoming projects and, best of all, style tips to upgrade our fall wardrobe.

In case you missed it, the Flawless By GU founder relaunched her fashion line, The Gabrielle Union Collection, in September. And with fall in full swing, we had to ask: How do we put together a foolproof, chic fall outfit?

According to Union, it’s all about layering. She told us, “Depending on where you live, the weather could be a number of things. So I like to start out with the basics, and then you can add layers.”

The Bad Boys star also noted that her October collection of bodysuits would be ideal for layering in the colder months. She continued, “We’re introducing bodysuits in the October collection, which I'm super excited about. They’re super soft, yummy bodysuits that give you that beautiful, clean line, so you don’t have to worry about the tucking when it starts to creep out during the day. You can wear it with jeans, or you can add it under a suit. We've got these really beautiful jackets, but it's all about layering. So you can be as warm as you want, and then start peeling off the layers as it gets warmer.” Duly noted.

(FYI, the Mockneck Bodysuit is now on sale for $42 at New York & Company, and also available for $60 at Lord & Taylor.)

As for Union’s absolute favorite piece right now, it just so happens to be the same item that sold out the quickest: the oversized suit.

She said, “It's kind of how I moved through the world day to day, which is a little bit more relaxed, a little bit more ‘laid back L.A. professional,’ which can kind of take on a lot of different things, but I wanted a suit that I could wear sneakers with, and I didn’t know if people were gonna be into it, but this was my favorite. And it was the first thing that sold out.”

Although limited sizes are available at the moment, fans can find both the blazer ($130) and matching pants ($100) at Lord & Taylor.

Aside from chatting about her favorite pieces, the Bring It On alum also discussed why it was so important that her collections be size-inclusive, with sizes ranging from XS to 2XL. She explained, “If my whole family can't enjoy it then it's kind of like, what’s the point? My family isn’t all size four, so I needed to have a variety of sizes, prices, looks and vibes.”

Looks like we’ll be spicing up our wardrobe in the (very) near future.
