How to Make a Glitter Jar at Home

The ’70s were a weird time for sure (looking at you avocado-colored decor and Jazzercise), but maybe people were really onto something with lava lamps. That's why we're here to show you how to make a glitter jar. They’re calming, entrancing and perfect for chilling out a fussy baby. Give the psychedelic trend a 21st-century makeover with this hypnotic, portable floating glitter jar.

What You Need:

 - A lidded mason jar
 - 3 tablespoons glitter glue
 - Hot water
 - Loose glitter
 - Food coloring

Step 1:

Add 3 tablespoons of glitter glue to the mason jar before pouring in 1 cup hot water.

Step 2:

Sprinkle in some loose glitter and continue adding until the mixture is sufficiently sparkly.

Step 3:

Fill the rest of the jar with hot water. Add a drop or two of food coloring and mix well with a spoon.

Step 4:

Secure the lid, shake and watch the mesmerizing glitter float around.
