Netflix Debuts ‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 2 Trailer Ahead of Premiere
In only a couple of weeks, Sweet Magnolias will return for the first time in almost two years, and fans will reunite with Maddie (JoAnna García Swisher), Dana (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Headley) as they navigate new romance, family dynamics and other relationships.
But before the second season premieres, Netflix has released a brand-new trailer to build excitement for the show's return, and it looks like there's a lot in store for our Magnolias. Check it out below.
When we last visited the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina, we were left with a lot of questions. Why did Kyle take Ty's car? Who are Isaac's birth parents? While we've been sitting with these questions, it looks like we might finally get some answers in season 2.
A few months back, JoAnna García Swisher hinted that these mysteries are only the tip of the iceberg in this new season. During an interview with Us Weekly, Swisher talked about the car crash at the end of season one and the unknown passenger, saying, “It’s not even the most interesting part of season two, and it’s not even the most interesting part of the first episode.”
This seems to be true based on the trailer, where we see that there is plenty of drama in the upcoming episodes, but this will only make the connection between our three leading ladies stronger. “Life will surprise you, and so will your ability to remember the sweetest moments,” Helen says in the clip.
While the show hasn't been renewed for a third season yet, Swisher seems to think there's hope. During an interview with PureWow last September, she said, “Alongside all of the things that we were met with in season one, there's just a whole new slew of interesting [storylines] that come with season three. Or season two—look at me, I'm manifesting a season three already!”
We hope that manifestation comes true. But before then, all ten episodes of Sweet Magnolias season 2 will be available to stream February 4.
