6 Ways to Get Rid of Back Acne
Aka bacne, our arch nemesis
Acne—in any form—is annoying. But acne on your back, or “bacne,” is particularly frustrating because it’s hard to reach and therefore treat. Luckily, with a few smart moves (and products), you can banish the bumps for good.
Wear Loose Clothing
Stick to garments that are made from cotton or other breathable fabrics. Anything that’s too tight, ill-fitting or constrictive will trap sweat against your skin.
Keep Hair off Your Back
After conditioning your hair, clip it up before washing your body so you don’t leave any residue on your back. Feeling sweaty? Now is the time to rock a ponytail or bun. Bottom line: You want to keep dirty or sweaty strands off of your skin.
Wash Your Bras Frequently
Ditto your linens. Basically, you want to keep anything that touches your back for an extended period of time as clean as possible. Wash bras every other day and linens once a week.
Shower Immediately After Working Out
After a sweat sesh (be it from a spin class or a supremely awkward social situation), shower as quickly as possible to rinse off any grime before it builds up around the hair follicles and causes breakouts.
Get a Better Body Wash
Look for a body cleanser that contains salicylic acid and use it consistently. We swear by Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash because it gets the job done without being too drying on skin. You could also use your face wash. (Just make sure it doesn’t list benzoyl peroxide as the main acne-fighting ingredient, as it tends to bleach fabrics. We don’t want your favorite dress to get ruined.)
