When we stay in a hotel, it’s scary enough wondering whether the coverlet has been washed and what kind of mystery gunk is on the showerhead. But one London theater company is taking hotel frights to the next level with an interactive murder game based on a real 19th-century serial killer.
Presented by immersive theater group differencEngine, The Hollow Hotel makes guests conquer frightening obstacles while they “journey through a maze of hidden passageways that will either lay you to rest or lead you further into the hotel’s dark heart.” (Eep.) Guests must figure out who the killer is while trying to survive the “literal death trap, designed just for you.” (Of course, you won’t be in any real danger...or will you?)
The frightening event is based on the story of real-life serial killer H. H. Holmes, whose murder location of choice was an unfinished hotel in Chicago. The interactive shows last an hour and a half, running April 17 through June 17 at the Biscuit Factory in London. Tickets are available now through the Hollow Hotel website and cost $65.
Your next vacation? Yep, it really is a matter of life or death.
