Royal News Roundup: From Prince William’s Tour of Kuwait to Prince Louis’s Latest Milestone

Here, all the royal news you need to know for the week of December 5, 2019.

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated two years since the announcement of their engagement with an Instagram post featuring photos from important milestones in their relationship. The slideshow included a snap from their engagement photocall, a new (!) wedding photo in black and white and a shot from their public debut as a family of three.
  • Kensington Palace announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton are teaming up with The Great British Bake Off alum Mary Berry for an all-new TV show. The couple are set to appear on the BBC One special A Berry Royal Christmas, which will air on Monday, December 16, at 8:30 p.m.
  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got into the holiday spirit by recognizing a dozen charities who are making a major impact. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared an Instagram post explaining that they inspired by The 12 Days of Christmas, they are “continuing our monthly tradition of highlighting accounts that do good” and care “for those in need—especially at this time of year.”
  • During day three of Prince William’s royal tour of Kuwait and Oman, the duke watched British and local troops conduct drills and simulations on Exercise Desert Warrior in Kuwait, before traveling to Oman to visit with the Royal Navy.
  • Queen Elizabeth hosted a reception for NATO leaders at her London abode on Tuesday. When Her Majesty noticed that Princess Anne was missing from the welcoming line, she jokingly scolded the 69-year-old royal. Much to our delight, the entire thing was captured on camera.
  • Buckingham Palace announced that Kate Middleton is now an official patron of the U.K. charity Family Action (a role that the queen has held for 65 years). The Duchess will assist the organization in providing support for families, who are affected by mental health issues, financial burdens and more.

  • Camilla Parker Bowles celebrated the 25th anniversary of her patronage, Emmaus Greenwich, with a visit to the charity’s Plumstead shop. She also took power clashing for a spin and paired a purple and green tartan skirt suit with a pink, purple, grey and aubergine geometric scarf.
  • The youngest child of Kate Middleton and Prince William is talking, according to his mother. While attending her first royal engagement as patron of the U.K. charity Family Action, she spoke with a young boy and opened up about Prince Louis. “You remind me of my little Louis, he keeps saying, ‘Me, me, me.’ And he wants to come everywhere with me!” Middleton said, according to People.

Where We'll See Them Next:

Prince Charles and Camila Parker Bowles will attend the official Commissioning Ceremony of the aircraft carrier at Her Majesty's Naval Base on December 10.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are skipping the tradition of spending Christmas with the queen in order to be with Markle’s mother, Doria. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.”
