We’re going to dive right in: We know the new season of AHS: Apocalypse is almost here (13 days, but who’s counting?), that it’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven, that it takes place in October 2019 (so, a year from now) and that almost all the major characters from both seasons are reprising their roles.

Ryan Murphy’s clued us in on a little secret, that the first episode will be titled “The End,” and now we have allllll the theories about what Apocalypse will entail. The biggest one, though, is obviously about this end-of-the-world event, and the timeline for the season (and series as a whole).

According to Digital Spy and Redditor thereisatide, it could go one of two ways. The first: That this apocalypse (probably caused by Cody Ferns Michael Langdon, who is the Antichrist) takes place in the first episode (hence why it’s called “The End”), and the rest of the season will see the Coven witches (Madison Montgomery, Queenie, Cordelia, et al) traveling back in time to figure out how to stop it.

The second theory, though, says that perhaps the apocalypse happens in episode one, but then halfway through, it’s revealed that the big nuclear explosion or whatever kills everyone off is actually just a vision from Sarah Paulson’s Cordelia Goode, who has the gift of Sight. The Coven then has to do everything in their power, including resurrecting some of the previously dead witches (with the help of Lily Rabe’s Misty Day) to prevent the end of the world.

This also makes sense with the teasers we’ve seen so far, which feature an hourglass with a nuclear mushroom cloud inside. When the glass is flipped over, the cloud disappears, which may mean the witches could turn back time to prevent the apocalypse.

The new season premieres on September 12 at on FX…’til then, we’ll be combing Reddit and trying to catch up on sleep (before we don’t get any for the next few months).
