Olympic Skater Adam Rippon’s Love for Reese Witherspoon Is Basically All of Us
We’ll be the first to admit we have almost nothing in common with athletes, let alone Olympic-level athletes. They’re competing for gold medals in honor of their home country, have one-third of an average person’s percentage of body fat and look amazing in head-to-toe spandex. But there is one thing we have in common with our favorite figure skater (and the first openly gay U.S. Olympian to medal in the Winter Games...yasss): our love of sweet Southern belle Reese Witherspoon. Here, a Twitter love story for the ages.
WHEN YOURE RIGHT, YOURE RIGHT, @RWitherspoon ?????? Also!! Quick movie idea for you: You (played by you) tweet me in the middle of the night at the Olympics and I (played by me) die immediately. Thoughts? https://t.co/2p9b11QxEl— Adam Rippon (@Adaripp) February 8, 2018
It all started last week when Witherspoon declared her love for the figure skater in a tweet: “Reason #1 to Watch #WinterOlympics2018: ADAM RIPPON @Adaripp.” To which he replied: “WHEN YOURE RIGHT, YOURE RIGHT,@RWitherspoon Also!! Quick movie idea for you: You (played by you) tweet me in the middle of the night at the Olympics and I (played by me) die immediately. Thoughts?”
Don’t know about y’all, but we’d definitely buy tickets to go see that cinematic masterpiece.
In an interview with NBC on Sunday, he told reporters, “There are so many emotions when I step on the ice. I want to represent my country to the best of my abilities.” And, in true American fashion, he went on to say, “I want to make Reese Witherspoon proud.”
In the end, Rippon won a bronze medal for Team USA, but he also won America’s (and, more important, Reese’s) heart.
