It’s Official: We’re Making the Case for Cheap Moisturizer
Beauty products run the gamut when it comes to pricing. From $10 drugstore picks to $300 department-store ones (and everything in between), it’s hard to really know what’s worth the money.
One product you should absolutely save on? Your face moisturizer.
Why’s that? The main purpose of moisturizer is to protect the skin's barrier and keep it from drying out. So while fancy creams with exotic ingredients are nice, a regular ol’ drugstore lotion will get the job done just fine. (In fact, Beyoncé is known to slather her face in Aquaphor, and we’d say she looks pretty damn good.)
So what is worth the investment? The one product you should actually spend a little extra money on is serum. It contains the most concentrated amount of active ingredients and actually penetrates into your skin to tackle issues like discoloration and loss of firmness. Apply your serum after cleansing and seal it in with moisturizer to get maximum skin-care benefits. Voilà—the yin and yang of keeping your face tight.
