Rihanna Cast Stunning 67-Year-Old Model JoAni Johnson for Fenty Ad Campaign

Rihanna's new fashion line, Fenty, started making history the moment it was announced (Rih is the first-ever black woman to design for LVMH). And unsurprisingly—considering the badass woman at the helm—Fenty continues to push the envelope. We're obsessed with its most recent campaign video, featuring 67-year-old model JoAni Johnson.

Johnson is a natural fit for the brand, considering Rihanna's commitment to representing and catering to more than one type of woman.

She singer, actress, designer and icon recently opened up to WWD about how important it was to try every piece of clothing on her own body. Why? “You know, I’m a curvy girl, so if I can’t wear my stuff, it’s not going to work,” she told the magazine.

“I need to see it on my hips, I need to see it on my thighs, I need to see it on my stomach. Is it making me look snatch, or is it just good on a fit model?” she added. “We stress a lot on that, and there’s definitely a huge diversity in the style of who’s wearing it, as you’ll see as the collections continue to roll out.”

Considering how effortlessly stunning and confident she looks in the campaign (and on her gorgeous Instagram account), it's surprising that Johnson—who's only 5-foot-4—is new to modeling. After being featured in a video for Allure about gray hair, she burst onto the fashion scene, working with designers like Tome and Pyer Moss and magazines like Vogue and Elle

In an Instagram post, Johnson reacted to her casting, writing, "Enormous thanks and love to @Badgalriri (a true visionary!) and @LVMH for choosing me to be on the right side of history with you, as unapologetic fashion game-changers. Representation matters. It always has and this @Fenty campaign is so excellent and so important for multiple reasons in 2019. The marathon certainly continues."

The Fenty range, which includes ready-to-wear, accessories, sunglasses and jewelry, is now available online and at a pop-up shop in Paris's Marais district.
