Prince Harry and Prince William are working together to honor their late mother, Princess Diana, in the most meaningful way.
The royal brothers just released a joint statement to announce that, in honor of what would've been her 60th birthday, a new statue of Princess Diana will be added to the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace on July 1, 2021. The news comes only three days before what will mark the 23rd anniversary of their mother's death.
According to their statement, "The princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy,"
The commemorative statue, which was jointly commissioned by William and Harry in 2017, was created by artist Ian Rank-Broadley, who was selected by a committee of six members, including both Harry and William. The brothers previously spoke of the significance of the statue: "Our mother touched so many lives."
