Prince William has always been a conservationist at heart, but now the 37-year-old Duke of Cambridge is teeing off against the single largest “enemy” to our environment.
Yesterday, during his three-day tour of Kuwait, Prince William visited the Jahra nature reserve in Kuwait City. There, he met young volunteers from a group called Trash Tag Kuwait, who join together to pick up trash and plastic around the city. During their chat, the group informed Prince William that they once collected 57 bags of trash from a beach in a single day. That’s a lot.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Cambridge told them, “It must be quite demoralizing for you to be out there all day and then come back and find it all full up again.” He added, “It’s amazing you guys are doing what you do but we need to do more to stop [the pollution] in the first place.”
He went on to explain how he really feels about single-use plastic water bottles, saying, “I hate plastic bottles now and I look at them and I literally think it’s the enemy.”
