We're T-minus three days from the release of Booksmart, Olivia Wilde's directorial debut. To tide us over until then, we have the film's latest trailer, which we just watched, like, four times in a row.
The film follows a couple of over-achieving besties (Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein) who realize on the eve of their graduation that they may have hit the books a little too hard throughout their high school career. The solution? To live it up and break all the rules in one epic, but totally memorable, night. Think: parties, hookups and...an attempted robbery?
The cast also includes Noah Galvin, Billie Lourd, Skyler Gisondo, Jessica Williams, Will Forte and Wilde's husband, Jason Sudeikis.
After the film's premiere at SXSW in March, Wilde said she's wanted to direct for a while, per The Hollywood Reporter, "But it takes a lot of courage to do it." She added that she started out directing music videos and shorts. "I had to spend a lot of time paying attention and observing. It's a good way to get your feet wet."
Apparently all the practice paid off: The film currently holds a 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics have agreed, "Fast-paced, funny, and fresh, Booksmart does the seemingly impossible by adding a smart new spin to the coming-of-age comedy."
