Bow down to the dame: She just saved your ankles and toes a world of hurt.

Helen Mirren, front-row attendee at Victoria Beckham's spring/summer 2020 runway show during London Fashion Week, reminded us of the one of the best styling tricks in the book. Here, her allover Posh Spice–approved snakeskin look (by Victoria Beckham, of course) for reference:

But instead of pairing her fabulous snakeskin button-down and midi skirt with a pair of stilettos, Mirren opted for a comfy pair of chunky heeled black booties with her fancy ensemble.

Case in point: Regardless of your choice between a frilly frock or a maxi-length gown, you can still keep your footwear casual and comfortable with a pair of elevated booties. Seriously, that applies no matter how dressy your actual outfit. Our advice? Follow in the dame's footsteps and go for a polished suede finish on your footwear, and add a pointed toe for some optical illusion leg elongation, like these Aquatalia ones ($495) or these Jeffrey Campbell sock booties ($125).

And you thought always looking this glam wasn't easy...
