A Whole Pint of This Ice Cream Has Only 240 Calories
And it actually tastes good
When we heard about “healthy ice cream” from a company called Halo Top, we were skeptical. Because we assumed it would either A) not actually be good for you and/or B) taste too good for you (i.e., gross).
Well, we’ve tried all seven flavors--from vanilla bean and chocolate to lemon cake and espresso chip--and are pleased to report that we were totally mistaken.
Halo Top, which is available online and in select stores, is all-natural, made without artificial sweeteners and, nutrition-wise, in a different league from the brands we know and love. For instance, a pint of Halo Top vanilla bean contains 240 calories, 16 grams of sugar and 8 grams of fat, while a pint of Haagen Dazs vanilla has 1,080 calories, 84 grams of sugar and 72 grams of fat. Whoa.
But how does it taste? In a word, delicious. The texture is ever so slightly less creamy than what we're used to, but definitely not off enough to keep us from devouring an entire pint.
So while we’ll still try to practice moderation, we can rest easier knowing that if our impulses (or next week’s episode of The Bachelor) get the best of us, it’s really not that bad.
