Everything Is Not What it Seems in Netflix’s Terrifying New Movie ‘A Classic Horror Story’

Netflix’s latest scary movie might sound like a classic horror story, but it’s so much more than that.

Introducing A Classic Horror Story, an upcoming Italian flick that’s bound to claim a spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched films when it premieres next month.

Netflix just released the first official trailer for A Classic Horror Story, which follows a group of strangers who travel to southern Italy. On the way, they joke about being targeted by a lunatic à la Pennywise from It.

“Children are just a means,” someone says. “Pennywise eats their fear.”

However, they soon find themselves in the middle of their very own scary film. “Why hasn’t anybody said it yet?” the voiceover says. “This is a classic horror movie.”

Right when they think they’ve solved the puzzle, they soon realize that it’s all a set up…and they’re not the first to endure it.

The official synopsis reads, “A camper. A car crash. An abandoned house. Children’s music in the background. Think you’ve seen it before? Look again.”

A Classic Horror Story was directed by Roberto De Feo (Ice Scream) and Paolo Strippoli (Tenderness), who also wrote the screenplay alongside Lucio Besana (The Nest), David Bellini (Blood Red) and Milo Tissone (The Looney Boxer). Cast members include Matilda Lutz, Will Merrick, Yuliia Sobol, Justin Korovkin, Peppino Mazzotta, Cristina Donadio, Francesco Russo and Alida Baldari Calabria.

A Classic Horror Story will hit Netflix on Wednesday, July 14, so mark your calendar (if you dare).
