After a summer full of garden parties and tennis matches, Prince William and Kate Middleton are returning to their royal routine—kicking off a fall full of regal comings and goings, some kid-related and some not. Here, everything the future king and queen consort have been up to in September.
William and Kate News: Here’s What the Royal Pair Has Been Up to This Month

They Both Showed Up For Princess Charlotte’s First Day Of School
When Prince George arrived for his first day of school two years back at Thomas’s Battersea, his royal mum Kate Middleton was pregnant with Prince Louis—and suffering from intense morning sickness—so she was unable to attend. Not the case for Princess Charlotte’s first day. This time, Middleton made a grand entrance, dressed in MICHAEL Michael Kors, as she casually walked Charlotte (and George) through the front doors for drop-off. William? He was there, too—but, come on, the guy’s old hat at this now.

Kate Showed Off A Brand-new Haircut, Too
Hello, shorter, choppier ’do. We love the layers—and the caramel highlights, your majesty.

William And Kate Confirmed The Dates Of Their Pakistan Royal Tour
We first heard that the royal pair would be traveling there earlier in the summer, but this month, the official dates of their next royal tour were announced: William and Kate will be in Pakistan carrying out official engagements from October 14 to 18. It’s been a bit since a member of the royal family has traveled there, too. The queen’s last trip took place in 1997 and Princess Diana went there on a solo trip in 1991, according to Town & Country. Will any of the kids—say, Prince Louis, since he’s not in school—tag along? Royal time will tell.

And Took A Jaunt To Birkenhead
Couldn’t wait until October to get another glimpse of William and Kate? Luckily, they followed in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and made a day trip to Birkenhead, Merseyside, England, on September 26 to attend the naming ceremony of the U.K.’s new polar research ship, the RRS Sir David Attenborough.

Kate Lent Her Support To First-time Moms In Need
Just because she’s now a mom of three doesn’t mean that Kate Middleton has forgotten the needs of first-time parents. Hence, her official visit this September to both Sunshine House Children and Young People’s Health and Development Centre in London. While there, she learned more about a brand-new initiative designed for first-time parents, age 24 and under, that connects them with a specially trained nurse to help them from the early stages of pregnancy until the child is two years old.

And Hobknobbed With Mary Berry For A Gardening Cause
To celebrate the unveiling of Middleton’s new garden at RHS Wisley, inspired by her Back to Nature garden from the Chelsea Flower Show, the one, the only Mary Berry of Great British Bake Off fame made an appearance—and looked 100 percent in her element as she joined Middleton for a tractor-trailer ride.

Prince William Championed The Work Of Firefighters In The U.k.
His solo trip to the Harcombe House Centre—home to the Fire Fighters Charity—in Devon, England, was in honor of the U.K.’s Emergency Services Day (also known as “999” Day—their version of 911).

And, Together, Kate And William Shouted Out Prince Harry’s Birthday On September 15
When Prince Harry turned the big 3-5, Kate and William didn’t miss a digital beat marking the occasion, heading to Instagram to post a sweet and sentimental wedding pic with a note—and birthday cake emoji, of course.
