Will Smith Is at War with Himself in the New ‘Gemini Man’ Trailer

Geminis are often depicted as two personalities, one body. Well, Will Smith (who’s a Libra in real life, btw) is getting a taste of his character’s own Gemini medicine in his upcoming movie.

In the first trailer for Gemini Man, the 50-year-old actor’s character is literally at war with his younger self. And no, we don’t mean in the “battling the demons of his past” kind of way.

In Gemini Man, Henry Brogan (Smith), an assassin with unparalleled skills, starts to question how the hit man who’s out to get him can aptly predict his every move. As it turns out, scientists cloned Henry and are having a younger version of himself, also played by Smith, try to kill him. Why? Honestly, we don’t know.

As Smith’s co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (who plays Danny) explains it, “I think I know why he’s as good as you. He is you.”

What ensues is a fair amount of de-aging CGI that makes Smith look like he’s back in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a lot of exceptionally dangerous motorcycle stunts (without a helmet we might add. Tsk tsk) and a more than healthy dose of cockiness (“There’s never been anybody like me”).

Suffice it to say, when Henry’s younger and older selves come together, they have several questions: How are there two of them? Why? And how is this going to end?

This tête-à-tête showdown comes courtesy of acclaimed action director, Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Life of Pi, Hulk), and hits theaters on October 11.

Consider it big Willie style times two.
