Wait, Did the Queen Just Agree to Let Harry & Meghan Move to Canada?

It’s been almost a week since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they’re stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family. And now, Queen Elizabeth issued a groundbreaking statement in which she low-key confirmed the couple is allowed to move to Canada. (For the time being, at least.)

It all started earlier today when the 93-year-old monarch explained that she’s working on a solution to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent announcement. In the statement, the queen revealed that she’s granting them international privileges, which means they’ll be allowed to travel to and from Canada whenever they desire.

“It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the U.K.,” it read.

This is fantastic news for Prince Harry and Markle. Not only will they require no formal approval to visit Canada, but they’ll also be able to stay as long as they want, which means a partial residency is totally in the cards.

Of course, there’s a small catch. While the queen granted them access to “spend time in Canada and the U.K.,” she could change her mind. In fact, the statement even specifies they’ll only be allowed to do this during the “period of transition,” which could end at any moment.

Still, we’ll take what we can get.
