Prince Harry Just Had Lunch with Gan-Gan Queen Elizabeth

Prince Harry had a casual lunch with his grandmother Queen Elizabeth ahead of this week’s final round of royal duties.

According to People, the 93-year-old monarch hosted her 35-year-old grandson for lunch this past Sunday at Windsor Castle, which is located right by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s U.K. residence, Frogmore Cottage.

As you may remember, Her Majesty requested the presence of the prince and his 38-year-old wife Meghan Markle at the Commonwealth Day celebration at Westminster Abbey on March 9. The couple, who is set to officially step down from royal duties on March 31, will also attend the Endeavour Fund Awards on Thursday, March 5,  and make an appearance at the Mountbatten Festival of Music on Saturday, March 7. Although there is surely lots of business to attend to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex prepare to exit their roles as senior members of the royal family, it appears the lunch was more so your typical grandma/grandson lunch date—ya know, just at a castle. This appears to be the first time Harry and Her Majesty have gotten together since he and his family relocated to Vancouver Island, Canada.

Prince Harry, Markle and presumably their 9-month-old son Archie will be staying at their Frogmore Cottage home while finishing out their royal duties. They officially announced their plans to retain the property and pay back taxpayers for the funds used to renovate it. In line with their efforts toward financial independence, the duke and duchess will also pay taxes on the expansive maise.

The royals may be ready for this change, but we’re not so sure we are. *Sigh*
