In the midst of Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez’s engagement announcement, Ellen DeGeneres wants to make one thing very clear: She’s responsible for everything.
During a recent episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the daytime host discussed the highly talked about proposal and revealed that she played a larger role than we originally thought.
“I don’t want to take credit for this, but I may have given A-Rod a little push that he needed,” she said.
DeGeneres proceeded to play a video from J.Lo’s last appearance on the show, which features the host gifting her with a clock to remind A-Rod that “time is ticking.”
“So, yeah. I kind of—I did that,” DeGeneres added.
Over the weekend, Lopez announced their engagement on Instagram by sharing a photo of her brand-new emerald-cut diamond ring. Three days later, J.Lo shared a series of pics, featuring the moment A-Rod got down on one knee, and they deserve their very own Pinterest board.
To think it all started with an oversize clock.
