The Genius Way to Store a Half Gallon of Ice Cream

Freezer burn is the worst. It takes the softest ice creams and changes them into an icy mess that’s not nearly as refreshing as a snow cone--nor as satisfyingly smooth as it was before. Here, an easy way to prevent this from ever happening again.

What you need: A pair of kitchen shears or a serrated knife.

What you do: As you make your way through the tub (so, in like two days…max), cut or slice off the empty part of the container. Then replace the lid and return the container to the freezer. 

By cutting off the extra bit of container each time, you’ll also cut down on air exposure (which is key to preventing ice crystals). Plus, you’ll free up valuable space in your freezer.
