I Tried an Oil Cleanser to Clear My Oily Face and It Completely Changed My Skin

f miller cleansing oil review 728

Would you believe me if I told you that up until six months ago, I didn’t wash my face?

No, I’m not joking, and yes, I’m hygienic. But after a visit with an aesthetician who gave me strict instructions to cleanse only with water, nary a drop of soap touched my cheeks. (She also told me to give up wine and coffee, but you can pry those two out of my cold, dead hands.)

So imagine my dilemma when a perfect storm of humidity, pollution and stress led to a weird facial rash and a forehead that looked like the site of an oil spill by 2 p.m. every day. It was then I decided to abandon the aesthetician’s advice. But after trying countless sudsy face washes that promised to clear up my face and didn’t deliver, I was ready to give up—which was exactly when a bottle of F. Miller Cleansing Oil landed on my desk.

After some quick Googling, I learned that this plant-based cleanser contains “a silky blend of nourishing botanical oils that gently dissolves makeup, lifts impurities and clears congestion.” I was skeptical to slather more grease onto my already slick face, fearing the worst (read: pimples). But the minimalist packaging and lure of a new product were too much to resist, so I gave it a shot. I haven’t looked back since.

Each night before bed, I massage a single pump of product all over my dry face—even my eyes. Then with tepid water, I rinse. The oil transforms into a milky cleanser and whisks away the day’s makeup and debris. I love that it’s gentle, hydrating, leaves no residue and smells faintly botanical in a money sort of way. What’s more, my once shiny and problematic face is now pleasantly dewy and as smooth as a baby’s rear end.

Could it be because I’m actually washing my face for once? Maybe, but I’m willing to bet it’s because this non-traditional face wash is just that good.
