Not Your Token Black Girl

We first came across Danielle Prescod on Instagram and voraciously consumed her honest and charming content about everything from her apartment makeover and hydration journey to her beauty routine and horseback riding (she’s been riding since she was nine and is a self-proclaimed "horse girl").

This was before she announced her debut book, Token Black Girl (released in late 2022), with the backdrop of the pandemic and the nationwide reckoning that followed the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.

Since then a lot has changed for Prescod, including the launch of her own business. With cofounder Chrissy Rutherford, 2BG Consulting focuses on anti-racist communication strategies and helping companies stick to their post-George Floyd promises.

Before 2BG, Prescod—who is one-half of the Prescod Sisters (her younger sister Gabby appeared on the most recent season of Bravo's Summer House)—worked in fashion media for Teen Vogue, ELLE, Refinery29 and InStyle, then in entertainment as BET's Style Director. Her bestselling memoir focuses on her journey navigating the toxic standards and systemic social constructs of mostly white communities via her upbringing, her education and her start in media. She’s reportedly in the midst of writing another book, and continues to educate brands via 2BG’s anti-racism workshops.
