A Quick Way to Weatherproof Suede Boots

We can all relate to this scenario: You’re in a rush to get ready for work (no surprise there), so you reach for the closest pair of shoes you can find. Of course, the one morning you don’t check your trusty weather app, there’s a thunderstorm. The shoes you happened to throw on? Suede booties. To prevent further pairs from falling prey to inclement weather, lifestyle expert Olivia Jeanette is showing us an easy way to weatherproof them.

What you’ll need: A can of KIWI® Shoe Care Protect-All water repellent and your leather or suede items

What to do: Shake the can well. Then, holding the can upright and about six inches away from the item, spray thoroughly in even strokes. Let it dry for 30 minutes and then apply a second coat. Let it dry for another 30 minutes before wearing. Tip: Spray in a well-ventilated area and always use the product according to the directions on the label.

Why it’s important: Water doesn’t play nice with leather and suede (think water spots and discoloration), so it’s essential to take the necessary precautions when it comes to protection. And considering you just spent a good chunk of your paycheck on those gorgeous booties, you’ll be glad you took the time to weatherproof them. Crisis averted.
