Passport to Summer: NYC’s Top 3 Events and What We’re Packing for Each

Ah, summer. The season of abundant sunshine, backyard BBQs, weekends at the beach and a jam-packed events calendar. Taking the time to plan everything down to a tee is necessary for making the most of those blissful, fleeting months. This year, we’re doing just that and scheduling our summer around three can’t-miss NYC events.

From a star-studded week of film to a high-energy music festival and an end-of-season tennis championship, we have our work cut out for us in the packing department. But that’s the fun of it. Whether you’ve already penciled in your plans, or need some inspiration (we won’t be mad if you tag along), here’s the rundown of exactly what to bring to the top three events in New York City this season.

1. Tribeca Film Festival

June 5-16

Summer unofficially starts on Memorial Day, but in our eyes, it really doesn’t begin until the Tribeca Film Festival. Every year, Hollywood descends on the streets of lower Manhattan for a week-long celebration of film, live podcast recordings, music, art and so much more. With over 150,000 guests in attendance, you know we’ll be one of them.

The festival features more than 600 screenings in one short week, so our calendar is bound to be jam-packed in the best way. And for that, we’ll need a comfortable, chic and easily repeatable outfit formula. Think: an oversized blazer from The Frankie Shop, a low-maintenance washable silk slip dress and a pair of mesh ballet flats for running from panel to panel. We’ll top it off with some Celine hexagon-frame sunglasses and a Toteme T-Lock Clutch for stashing CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder (for touch-ups) and CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm (for a super hydrated pout).

2. Governor’s Ball Festival

June 7-9

Governor’s Ball Festival is the Coachella of NYC with three full days of music and Instagram-ready outfits at every turn. There’s no better time to be outside in the city than June, so we’re already texting the group chat to get everyone on board. And this year’s lineup (Post Malone, SZA, The Killers, Sabrina Carpenter and more) is inspiring our packing list.

Effortlessly cool AGOLDE denim shorts and an oversized band tee will keep us comfortable from sunny afternoons through to breezy evenings. A hands-free, rock-inspired Isabel Marant belt bag (stocked with Liquid I.V. for hydration) will ensure our phone’s never more than a zip away, and perhaps most importantly, comfortable leather boots will make walking from set to set and back a breeze. Oversized sunglasses and CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Hydration and Longwear on our face to tie it all together.

3. US Open

Aug 26-Sept 8

Medvedev vs. Djokovic in the final, a Honey Deuce cocktail in hand—there’s nothing like the US Open’s Queens takeover to round out summer. From the lightning-speed matches to the must-have merch, it’s an experience that can’t be passed up. And we don’t plan on it. While we’ll leave the tennis attire to the pros, we’ll be taking cues from their on-court style for our own outfit roster.

We’re checking off our packing list with our whites: high-rise jeans by GRLFRND, a crisp white tee and a country club-inspired cardigan tossed over our shoulders. Bold Mansur Gavriel ballet flats keep things comfy, yet chic, and you know we’ll be purchasing a US Open hat from the official store to add a sporty touch. For beauty, we’re keeping things natural with a touch of color from the new CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sun-Kissed Powder.
