Prince William is a father, a husband and the future king of England. But did you know that his height sets him apart from his ancestors?

According to Hello! magazine, the Prince of Wales, 41, will make history when he ascends the throne after his dad, King Charles. When this happens, Prince William will become the second-tallest monarch in the British royal family’s history, measuring in at six feet, three inches.

The tallest British monarch was Edward IV, who measured six feet, four and a half inches. He was followed by Edward I, who stood at six feet, two inches. King Charles was the next tallest British monarch (five feet, ten inches), but this order will change when Prince William becomes king.

As royal commentator Wesley Kerr pointed out (via Tatler), “[Prince William’s] height puts him in the top four English kings in history alongside Edward I, Edward IV and Charles II.”

Kerr continued, “William is maybe a new kind of leader who can keep the monarchy relevant and resonant in the coming decades.”

Royal aficionados might be surprised by Prince William’s tall stature, since his dad only measures at five feet, ten inches. His late mother, Princess Diana, also stood at five feet, ten inches, while his wife, Kate Middleton, is one inch shorter at five feet, nine inches.

The more you know.
