These Are the Shoe Trends You’re About to See Everywhere

Whether you’re getting dressed up for weddings, graduations, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, vacations—you name it—there’s plenty of seasonal reasons to add a pop of shine to your outfit. Blame it on the New York silver boot craze, the lingering effects of the Renaissance tour or just the exhilaration of adding something shiny and unexpected to break up an outfit of neutrals: Whatever the case, silver and gold footwear is a major trend for spring.

We’re all entering our cowboy era (yet another style cue we’re stealing from Queen Bey). “Yeehaw!” your way into spring in western wear, like these fun fringy pairs, or a more understated buckled version, all from Vince Camuto. The best part? The brand has upped their size inclusivity game of late, and added a ton of wide and extra-wide calf boot styles late last year.

This one’s been going strong for awhile now, and we have zero complaints. For starters, it’s about comfort. Sure, we love a pair of gorgeous stilettos as much as the next gal, but that’s rarely a practical option during this busy time of year. The spring 2024 update to the kitten heel? Mesh, buckles and shine all add an extra oomph to classic styles.

We’re big fans of the “wrong shoe theory” that swept TikTok late last year: Swap your go-to footwear for a pair that feels unexpected and out-of-the-blue for an instant outfit upgrade. (The result: Fashion with a capital “F,” as our style editor puts it.) We think the concept works well with the wave of lavenders, plums, violets and fuchsias we’ve been spotting on the runways lately. An unexpected pop of purple is just the dopamine hit we need on a not-yet-summer day.

We tend to notice a lot of espadrille styles appear once the weather turns warmer, but we think the dawn of festival season might be the reason we’re seeing a larger than usual crop of crocheted, rattan, woven and natural-fiber styles. We love that whether worn on a beach or on a city sidewalk, the effect is still the same: Easier, breezier weather is finally here.
