The only constant in life is change. For those of us who can’t go a month without rearranging our bedroom furniture or dying our hair, surfing from trend to trend: change is a lifestyle. But what about those of us who cringe at the thought of switching from oatmeal to eggs for breakfast? Those of us who just want to go where everybody knows our name? Here’s our definitive list of the zodiac signs who are hooked on transformation (and those who are total creatures of habit).
3 Zodiac Signs That Embrace Change (& 2 That Are True Creatures of Habit)
3 Zodiac signs that embrace change
Let’s be real: Geminis don’t only embrace change, they’re addicted to it! Gemini is ruled by Mercury—the planet of communication and expression—which is the only planet in traditional astrology that isn’t associated with any of the binaries (hot/cold, masculine/feminine, day/night). As true free spirits, Geminis, like Mercury, glide between modalities, easily taking on the traits of whatever and whoever is surrounding them. Geminis are always seeking information and TBH, get bored easily which is why your Gemini friend can’t seem to stay at a job for very long even though she loves her coworkers and the pay is great. Why remain in one place when there’s so much out there to learn?
Like their opposite sign Gemini, Sagittarius is always on the go. And for the archer, “on the go” doesn’t mean just busy running errands. These fire signs take detours to an extreme. For example, I have a Sagittarius friend who successfully moved to another country without even telling anyone and then just as quickly moved back. Like it was nothing. Ruled by expansion and opportunity planet Jupiter, Sagittarius comes to life when they’re on a quest for knowledge. Sagittarians are the travel bloggers, the Ph.D. candidates, and the adventurous restaurant critics of the zodiac. Though Sags could probably benefit from a touch more stability in their day-to-day life, they don’t blink an eye when they have to pack up and go, which in our fast-paced world is definitely to their advantage. Sagittarius only settles where they know the well of knowledge will never run out.
You might be surprised to see methodical Virgo on the list of change-loving zodiac signs, but these earth signs are less stuck in their ways than they seem. Like Gemini and Sagittarius, Virgos have a mutable temperament, meaning that ultimately, they go with the flow. Would they prefer the flow to always go their way? Yes. But if they must, they’ll follow someone else’s lead. (And if the result is a mess and they get to say, “I told you so?” Honestly, that’s even better.) Like Gemini, Virgo is ruled by elusive Mercury, always on a quest for more stimulation and information. Would this earth sign prefer to stay where they are? Perhaps. But they’ll never say no to uprooting their life if it means finding something better on the other side.
2 Signs that hate change
On the other end of the spectrum from Sagittarius and Gemini is Taurus, which is perhaps the most stubborn sign of the zodiac. Taurus is the fixed earth sign, a bull grazing in a lush, verdant field. That bull isn’t going anywhere if she has enough grass to munch on and a nice soft patch where she can sleep. Taurus is such a creature of habit that they’re often willing to stay in a job, relationship or living situation that doesn’t actually satisfy them, as long as it’s reliable and consistent. Stability is comforting but Tauruses shouldn’t let it become a trap.
Leos are glamorous, bold, beautiful and completely stuck in their ways. Because yes, like Taurus, Leo is a fixed sign. Leos look fabulous because they’ve mastered the formula—that lipstick plus those jeans minus any perceptible insecurities. Try to get a Leo to branch out of their usual beauty routine, work schedule or date night plan and you will be left with a very unhappy Lion. Think about the Leo for Leo pairing of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck getting back together after over a decade apart. Why try something different when you know what works?
