The Money Advice You Need This May, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

With tax season over, it may be tempting to never think about money again. But a little planning does go a long way, so we broke down the financial tips you need this May by zodiac sign.

Aries: Pay off your credit card in full
The Aries ethos of “do something” over “do nothing” can help you avoid unnecessary debt and, worse, unnecessary interest. Use that decisive energy to pay off your entire credit card balance before the bill is due, which will keep your account healthy and your impulse buys at bay. Not able to pay in full? Sit down with your accounts this month and decide the right path for getting debt-free.

Taurus: “Sell in May and go away”
It’s your season, Taurus, and no one loves a low-maintenance strategy more than you. The adage, “sell in May and go away,” refers to selling stocks before the summer market slowdown, so you can relax knowing you avoided a statistical loss.

Gemini: Think about retirement
You’re youthful at any age, Gemini, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore long-term financial planning. Check on your 401(k) contributions or, if you don’t have one, think about setting up an IRA. Your future self will appreciate that your present self figured out the difference between a Roth and a traditional.

Cancer: Set up a rainy-day fund
No one is better at anticipating the worst than a protective Cancer. If you devote a percentage of your income this month to a rainy-day fund, you’ll be financially and emotionally ready for the emergencies you’ve already mentally scenario-planned.

Leo: Look at the price tag
Sure, you never feel more like a queen than when you pick up an item, lay it on the counter and buy it without looking at the price. But if you did, you’d inevitably moderate your spending a little. Remember that prudence is a royal trait, too...

Virgo: Build your credit
It may feel a little counterintuitive for a frugal, practical Virgo to accumulate credit, but the health of your score often depends on it. You may want to up your card limit or apply for one with more bells and whistles to make your credit sparkle a little more—we say this knowing you, Virgo, will be responsible in paying your monthly statement in full.

Libra: Invest in therapy
Self-care is a bit of a theme this month, so put your money where your mind is and start going to therapy. We all could look after our mental health a little more, and investing in that part of your life will undoubtedly pay dividends elsewhere.

Scorpio: Skip the drinks
As a Scorpio, it’s easy for you to be either all in or all out. Use that hard-line determination to forgo alcohol this May and watch your bill for every outing get dramatically cheaper. You might miss the booze, but you’ll love the added liquidity.

Sagittarius: Make your money work for you
If you’ve got healthy savings, you could be losing out by not investing in the market. While having immediate liquidity is important, make sure you’re putting enough of your money to work for you. Nothing’s better than money that makes you money.

Capricorn: Use your points
If anyone can take advantage of a deal, it’s you, Capricorn. Credit card point systems can be intentionally opaque but make it a priority to dig through the fine print. You might already be eligible for a free flight to Rome...

Aquarius: Ask for a raise
Sometimes the best way to make more money is to ask for more money. You’ve been steadily putting in the time at work, but this month, it’s time to redeem the value you’ve contributed. You may be more persuasive than you realize.

Pisces: Game-plan with a financial advisor
Whether you’re an expert or a newb about personal finance, it always helps to get perspective. Talk to an advisor to make sure you’re building wealth and avoiding debt in the best way for you. You can only know what you don’t know if you ask.
