16 Free Outdoor Workouts You Can Do in NYC This Summer

When it’s 80 degrees and sunny, there’s one thing we realllly don’t feel like doing: Lunges and weights in a sweaty, smelly gym.
Let’s hit the park, people. Here are 16 outdoor workout classes you can take in NYC this summer. And yep, they’re all free.
6:30 p.m. Brazilian Capoeira class, anyone? Venture to Indian Road Lawn in Inwood Hill Park and learn this amazing mash-up of martial arts, dance and acrobatics.
6:30 p.m. Gaze at the sunset at the Plaza at 66th St. in Riverside Park while taking a relaxing Hatha yoga class.
6:30 p.m. Get a different workout every Wednesday through August 10th on the South Plaza on Broadway and 22nd Street. Take a class from Yoga Shanti, Mile High Run Club, ChaiseFitness and more, then sip a free post-workout drink.
7:00 a.m. You know what’s way better than caffeine? Vinyasa yoga in Union Square, courtesy of the New York Health & Racquet Club.
5:00 p.m. Crunch is hosting a variety of free workouts and fitness classes as part of Union Square’s Summer in the Square series, so show up and prepare to sweat.
9:00 a.m. Head to the Astoria Park Track for a three-mile run with the New York Road Runners. (All skill levels are welcome, so don’t worry if you haven’t run a mile since gym class.)

4:00 p.m. Get sweaty at GRIT at Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park--this high-impact workout burns calories even after you’re done, so you can eat an extra slice of pizza tonight.
