Meet the nutrition counselor teaching clean and mindful living

With her glowing skin and artfully curated feed of vegan recipes, one might assume that healthy living has always come naturally to Dorit Jaffe. But it was actually her own debilitating struggle with stress, hormonal imbalances and weight fluctuations that inspired her journey into wellness. 

After years of feeling ill and frustrated, Dorit got serious about making a change—she started following food bloggers, experimenting constantly with healthy recipes and different workouts, and seeing holistic doctors to get to the root of her issues. Surprise: She fell in love with the learning process—and its tangible results—along the way. Today, Dorit is a certified nutrition counselor (as well as the voice behind Whole Healthy Glow) and devotes her days to helping women like herself change their lives and feel their best. On the one thing that’s always in her purse. “I never leave my place without a good book. When I'm on the train, waiting for friends at a coffee shop, or just in between appointments throughout the day, I love to read. This way I'm not looking at my phone more than I need to, I’m learning, and I’m using my spare time wisely. I'll read anything about self-help, nutrition, spirituality, philosophy or thought-provoking inspirational books. At the moment I have a few books to finish but am currently reading One Spirit Medicine by Alberto Villoldo.”

On her perfect Manhattan morning. “The first thing I do when I wake up is meditate for 15 minutes. Then I make my vegan Bulletproof coffee, and head to the gym. I love working out first thing in the morning because it wakes me up, gets me energized and puts me in a good mood. I live in NYC and there are so many great fitness studios to go to. A few of my favorite are Rumble (for boxing), Barry's Bootcamp and SoulCycle. I also love going to Inscape for meditation whenever I can during the day.”

On her happiness philosophy. “You create your own reality. Determine your desires, ask for what you want, and then get yourself in the same frequency as what you desire. Once you let go, all your desires will come to you. There is no need to stress or worry.”
