I approached the Eva Vibrator with mixed emotions. On the one hand, I couldn’t wait to get my hands (err…cooka) on the little pleasure bug and test out my second-ever vibrator. (I know…my sex toy collection and experience may be pitiful, but hey, we all start somewhere). But on the other hand, I had my doubts. For one, I’d hoped the steep $135 price tag would be justified for such a tiny toy. And another, I mean, the thing has arms—albeit, for secure grip and comfortable tuck, they’re still...arms. But after reading the manual a few times, washing my new sex toy and reading the instructions one more time, I went to work to learn why it’s been repeatedly ranked top sex toys for women.

Trying it out solo

I didn’t have to do much to experience the full benefits of the Eva. In just a few minutes of maneuvering, I figured out where the device sits best for maximum clitoris stimulation and which speed I prefer (I like transitioning from the first to second speeds).Though it is hands-free optional, I found that using my finger to alter the pressure increased got me to that orgasm I was searching for, so it was more hands-on than expected.

I want to mention, however, that it isn’t the quietest vibrator out there. Proceed with caution if you have roommates or live in a packed household and you’re looking for a little “me time.” The buzz will undoubtedly be heard the room over. (And FYI, if anyone knocks to check in, everything is OK in here.)

Trying it with a partner

While flying solo is one story, introducing a third partner in bed can be a bit awkward…even if it is just a sex toy. Luckily, my partner was willing to give it a go if it’d make me happy.

But once things kicked off in earnest, the multitasking proved…challenging. Maybe it’s the Virgo in me, but my overthinking made it difficult to focus on various factors at once. Order was not kept. My mind was racing a million miles a minute wondering, Is this bothering him? His answer: “Does it feel good for you?” And while I definitely felt the fanny flutters from his focus on my sexual gratifications, I couldn’t handle the stress of making sure the device stayed in place, ensuring the pressure was to my liking all while trying to be present in bed. In short, she had to go.

Final thoughts

Eva may have been kicked out of our momentary threesome while we reverted back to what some may deem our toy-free vanilla sex, but I have no doubt she’ll make another return between the sheets to spice things up at some point. In the meantime, my partner’s fully aware that I’m seeing someone else other than him…and her name’s Eva.

Hot tip: I’d suggest charging after each experience because there’s nothing worse than losing battery mid-use. Nothing worse.
