4 Memorable Life Lessons We Learned from Bobbi Brown

By: Cristina Gutierrez
Published: April 24, 2019

Bobbi Brown has done and seen it all. From her career as a makeup mogul (which she started by cold-calling pros from the yellow pages) to her latest venture running the wellness brand EVOLUTION_18, she’s picked up more than a few life lessons along the way. Here, four of our favorites that you can (and should) take to heart.

‘what If?’ Is The Best Mantra

It’s one of her favorite sayings. When you consider all possibilities and constantly ask yourself “What if?” it helps instill a greater drive and a sense of positive and creative thinking—the qualities of a good entrepreneur, according to Brown.

There Are Two Cornerstones Of Beauty

According to Brown, those two cornerstones are 1) water for hydration, and 2) vegetables for important nutrients. Brown is a firm believer that beauty starts on the inside and that feeling your best leads to looking your best. That’s why she’s in the habit of carrying around a can of V8 vegetable juice. The 5.5-ounce can has one full serving of vegetables, as much potassium as a small banana, and antioxidant vitamins A and C. Now you never have an excuse to skip your veggies.

Confidence And Health Go Hand In Hand

“People don’t understand how to get confident. If you put healthy things into your body you’re going to feel better, you’re going to look better, you’re going to act better and I think that leads to confidence,” says Brown. You heard it, ladies. Eat the darn vegetables.

Failure Is Just One Perspective

Take it from Brown: There’s no such thing as failure; it’s just an opportunity to do something differently. So instead of focusing on what’s not working, change your perspective and take any setbacks as a chance to make a new choice. “I think one of my best attributes that I can’t really teach anyone is that I’m so incredibly naive. I just don’t think anything will go wrong, and I’m not afraid to try things,” she says. “If doesn’t work, I’ll do something else.”
