In the Future, We Just Might Swallow Our Health Trackers
So they can monitor our well-being from the inside out
You finally got used to wearing a wristband that tracks your heart, steps and sleep--but don’t get too attached.
Jawbone just announced the future and, according to the company’s CEO, instead of wearing a bracelet to track your health, you’ll soon be swallowing it.
The new sensors--currently in development--are designed to either pass through your system or live in your bloodstream, collecting intimate details about your body parts and vital organs so you know exactly how everything inside is functioning. (All info would then be communicated back to a corresponding smartphone app.)
The purported benefits include everything from a faster diagnosis of major health issues to everyday applications like monitoring your circulation or blood alcohol level, says the CEO.
These devices are many years away from hitting shelves. Still, the future is coming--and apparently it's edible.
