The Surprising Way to Freshen Stinky Feet
Don’t act like it’s not a problem
You love all kinds of shoes. In fact, you’ve got two closets full of them. But you keep those doors tightly closed because boy, oh boy, do they reek. (Sorry, it’s true!) Here’s a simple trick for freshening your stinky hooves with something you probably already have in your medicine cabinet.
What you need: 1 cup of Listerine (try using the original gold version if you don’t wants to temporarily turn your feet blue), 2 cups warm water and a foot-soaking tub or big bowl.
What you do: Combine the Listerine and warm water in the tub and soak your puppies for about 15 to 20 minutes. (If you have any cuts on your feet, you’d be wise to forgo this remedy until they heal. Acid + cut = ouch.) Rinse feet and dry with a towel.
Why it works: Podiatrist Eric Reynolds, DPM, says that Listerine’s combo of benzoic acid and ethanol helps kill bacteria, germs and even the fungi that can lead to athlete’s foot. And hey, if it’s good enough for freshening breath, we say it’s good enough for freshening feet, too.
