Fried Dough Is the Unpretentious Wedding Dessert Trend We Needed

Things that are always a hit: 1) Interactive food stations and 2) fried dough. So honestly, it's kind of surprising that fried dessert stations are only just skyrocketing in popularity as a wedding cake alternative. 

Umm, tell me more!? Here's the deal: You pick a favorite fried dessert (see: churros, funnel cake, beignets) and ask your caterer if they can either create themselves or hire out a "performance station," so that guests can have a fun and delicious foodie activity. 

These kinds of performance stations “add WOW factor for guests,” says caterer Meryl Snow of Feastivities Events. Bonus points: “They’re also really great as ice breakers!”

Way more fun than cake.
