The Jitney may be an institution, but it also comes with its drawbacks. Not to mention that arriving on a bus doesn’t exactly scream baller status.
That’s where Barton & Gray comes in.
The members-only club has a fleet of crewed Hinckley yachts at your disposal that will drop you off at Montauk, the Sunset Beach Hotel, Dockers Waterside, Shelter Island or one of the East End’s many other popular docking areas.
Here’s how it works: Their concierge team will assist you in planning a chartered trip. Come Friday afternoon, you and your guests (up to six passengers total) will board a 48-foot Hinckley and embark from Manhattan with your captain and first mate, docking at the Hamptons port of your choosing in about three and a half hours. Don’t worry: The yacht will be stocked with bubbly, B&G Grog (their own boat brew) and snacks.
As you might expect, however, luxury boating comes with a caviar price tag. In addition to the cost of membership (annual dues range from $25,000 to $50,000 and all have a $10,000 initiation fee), pricing to the Hamptons ranges from $2,750 to $3,250 for a one-way trip and $5,500 to $6,000 for a round trip, depending upon membership.
But hey, you only live once, right?
