You skipped town to check out a super-cute B&B that’s way, way (way) out of town. The one problem: You’ve got zero bars of service but promised your mom you’d check in after the drive. Don’t worry: There’s another way to make the call.
What you need: A Wi-Fi connection and a seventh-generation iPhone or later (in other words, newer than the 5c).
What you do: Go into your settings and choose Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and toggle Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone to on. (If you get a prompt to enter your address, it’s fine. Basically, you’re just giving emergency services a backup in case your GPS is acting up.)
Now what? Call your mom. She’s waiting.
